GENERAL INFORMATION
Our property (9 Rue des Mitons, Cordes- sur-Ciel, Occitanie, France) is the second road down from the Grand Rue Raimond VII at the top of the village of Cordes, facing south (So we get sunrise and sunset throughout the year). The house is visible from the D600 into Cordes, and is the one with the metal pergola structure on the edge of Les Ramparts. The house is visible at the top of the village in these images below, and is directly below the vertical stone wall at far left (the fig tree and foliage beneath the wall is our garden).
The house has three floors and sits on 650 square metres over two levels, with garden space, large fig tree, lawn upper level.
Lower level has swimming pool, shed for storage and oil storage, garden and tiled patio.
Ground floor has kitchen, dining, pantry, lounge, bathroom.
Second floor (old pigeonnier) is the guests room with bathroom and a heat pump).
Lower floor (old barn) is the main bedroom, the cave, storage and indoor access to pool and patio.
The house has WiFi that works on all three levels. The entire ground floor (kitchen, dining area and lounge) has underfloor oil fired heating, so it’s great in winter).

The Pool
• Just check once a week or so to clear the skimmer basket of leaves
• Add one Chlorine tablet every two weeks, or when it looks like it need it
• Use the pool broom to brush off any green algae build up on the walls
• If you hear a gurgling sound coming from the skimmer basket end of the pool, it means the pool needs more water
So just throw in the hose and let it run for say 30 mins. As the weather warms up or the water evaporates, you may hear this.
GETTING HERE AND AROUND
DRIVING TO RUE DES MITONS
Directions for driving to Rue des Mitons
This is a very narrow road to get into and out of. You must go up into La Cite from the lower town opposite the La Bistro cafe on Rue de la Bouteillerie. Carry on this road where it becomes Les Remparts and then becomes le Planol past the old tower and Chambre d’hotes etc. At the end of this turn right (don’t carry on down the hill) into La Cite through the Porte des Ormeaux. Through the Porte take the left cobbled road (Rue St Michel), carry on through the narrow space beside the church. Carry on past Hostellerie du Vieux Cordes at the end. Then turn sharp right here past the right side of the covered market (Les Halles). Turn left into Grand Rue Raimond, and carry on down and through the Portail Peint. Turn sharp RIGHT immediately you exit the gate, this is Rue des Mitons. Carry on until you see our wall and doorway at No9. You may see our Passat or our neighbour’s car beside our house. Just park in front of no9. You have to reverse to drive out due to a fire in 2023. So don’t drive forward.
WALKING DOWN fROM MITONS
Exiting our gate, turn right and carry on down the hill. Pass Patrick the jeweller, after passing through Porte de Vainqueur, turn left down the hill.
Go past the grand Barbacane tower, still going down, then turn left at the Lime tree still going down the hill. Keep going and pass through Porte L’Horloge. Keep on going down Grand rue de L’Horloge and you will end up at Cordes en Bas (the lower town). If you go left you will get to the boulangerie, pharmacy and doctors (across the road). If you go right at the bottom of the hill you will be beside the Maison le la Press (newsagent) and Le Moulin (baker, cafe). Across the road from this is the Carrefour supermarket. If you keep on going down from the Carrefour you may find Tom’s coffee and cake place is open.
REVERSE DIRECTIONS TO RUE DES MITONS
You can either walk back the way you came up (the right road) and through Porte L’Horloge. Or walk up Rue de la Bouteillerie (the left road), keep going past the Pater Noster steps. You will come to a lane ‘La Rampes’ going off the road on the right (pix 2 & 3). Continue up here past the now fenced off Rue Chaude, via a dogleg, then you will be on Rue des Mitons. Turn right to No9.
